| BlackBerry Torch 2 9810 Compared to Torch 9800 On Video Posted: 21 Jul 2011 02:22 AM PDT The next gen upcoming BlackBerry Torch 2 9810 looks almost exactly like the current generation BlackBerry Torch 9800. The thing is RIM has totally revamped the internal guts and specs. While we have seen pictures and video of the 9810 before they more or less look the same. Now TechnoBuffalo has put together a video comparing the two devices. The 9810 is definitely coming to AT&T but this device is still buggy so you cannot compare it easily. On the other hand it is scheduled for release soon yet RIM has not even confirmed its existence… Check out the video below: We also have another non-scientific video comparison done by N4BB comparing the BlackBerry Bold 9900 browser to the iPhone 4 browser. Many BlackBerry users have been waiting to hear more about TAT and what it will bring in terms of features for the regular BlackBerry user. When we first saw the TAT Scrapbook app on the PlayBook we knew they were destined for big things and we really cannot wait for more. The Scrapbook app really shows off the PlayBook so its interesting to see the full story of how the Scrapbook app went from a demo app to a full fledged PlayBook app available to all. You can read the story behind the Scrapbook app on RIM’s blog or pick up the app in App World if you don’t already have it. While I wish we could also have the Quake app RIM was demoing hopefully we will be seeing many more designs and apps coming from TAT. Kudos to them and RIM for the slick Scrapbook app! We knew that RIM was looking into wireless charging but it seems like they were holding back when they announced the BlackBerry Bold 9900 in May. We have been hearing rumors about RIM adding wireless charging but now two sources have confirmed the story. They heard from RIM that the BlackBerry Bold 9900 is packing wireless charging inside. We know that RIM is part of the Qi Wireless Consortium which promotes magnetic inductive charging (unlike conductive which has metal exposed) but I have not been able to confirm that it is using inductive charging. From what we are hearing the technology is built into the back cover which connects to the device. There are also two tiny prongs on the bottom of the device possibly for a cradle. I am really excited to see RIM getting in on the forefront of a new technology with wireless charging. This is the kind of engineering that will create buzz sort of like the Palm Touchstone wireless charger. It could also explain why this Bold 9900 is eschewing the faux leather back cover for this new meshed metal design. Originally we were told that the back cover was for NFC communication but it looks like it will be pulling double duty. I am still trying to confirm this rumor but the signs seem to be pointing in this direction… RIM has also been really hush about the Wi-Fi mobile hotspot feature in BlackBerry 7 devices so this could just be another hush feature. | Final Fantasy II for BlackBerry is Pure Nostalgia Posted: 20 Jul 2011 09:05 AM PDT
We told you when Namco released the first Final Fantasy for BlackBerry near the end of last year which was loads of fun and a flashback to the 1990s. Now they have followed up with Final Fantasy II for BlackBerry and the fun continues. As some reviewers note this version is not as smooth but it is still one of the best RPG games for BlackBerry. I played it on my Torch and it works but I cannot wait to try it on a 9900. You can pick up Final Fantasy II for BlackBerry in App World for $4.99. T-Mobile announced some new Value Plans today for their customers. They will only fully details the plans on July 24th but until then they have given us a taste of what is coming. The idea is that they are offering up cheaper monthly rate plans for users who either pay for their device up front or break up the payments over 20 months with lower interest free payments. This is a model that is used in Europe and other countries but has never really caught on in the US. It is a model that makes sense and will offer plans like unlimited talk, unlimited text and unlimited data with 2 GB of high-speed data for $49.99 per line for two lines which is not bad. We will definitely be keeping an eye on this. It is great to see T-Mobile still innovating even though their acquisition by AT&T looms in the background. This is one of the main reasons I am afraid the AT&T-Mobile combo will not be good for customers. They are offering up $100 off many of their tablets including the BlackBerry PlayBook until July 30th. Crazy Survival is a fun game to pass the time on your BlackBerry. The game simply has you dodging balls falling from heaven trying to crush your stick figure character. You need to move him left and right to dodge those balls while yelling and screaming. The sound effects are quite funny but you really should just check out the game for yourself.
