RIM Releases Demo Videos for 4G LTE BlackBerry PlayBook

Last week RIM announced they were launching the BlackBerry PlayBook 4G LTE in Canada on August 9th. RIM took a while to get this device out in the market, but now we have a few demo videos from RIM on how to use the device.

Twitter For BlackBerry Updates to v3.2 In The Beta Zone

Twitter for BlackBerry has been receiving continuous updates over the last few months, and today RIM released the latest update to the up bringing it to version 3.2.0.3. The new version is only available to the BlackBerry Beta Zone members. This new version has the following new features.

New Features of 3.2 Include:

Follow/Unfollow buttons on user lists
Improved support for expanded Tweets, including article summaries and photos (read more about this new functionality on Twitter’s blog here)

RIM also fixed quite a few things under the hood:

Drop down list buttons in options screen are not getting redrawn correctly when changing options.
Right to Left – Following and all users button text clipped or not displayed correctly in user account options.
Right to Left – Follow button and usernames are not reversed in lists for AR and HE on 5.0
Outside interaction with Lists cause Internal Twitter server problem or loading screen indefinitely
Unable to access UK English help All users/following drop-down menu doesn't update while highlighted

RIM also added a timeline for updates to the BlackBerry Beta Zone, so likely we can expect a new update on the 20th.

- Friday, August 10: First Impression Survey Opens
- Wednesday, August 15: First Impression Survey Closes
- Week of August 20: Beta Refresh Build

Developer PineLake Ports Cubifice to BlackBerry PlayBook In One Hour

RIM has made tremendous efforts to make developing apps for the future BlackBerry platform easier, and faster. The latest example is that of PineLake Communications® a digital content company that created an android app called Cubifice® that saw just a few downloads in the first few days, then they decided to try in the BlackBerry PlayBook. The app saw 500+ downloads in around the same time. The tools RIM has provided for the BlackBerry Devs made it effortless for PineLake to porte the android app to the BlacKBerry PlayBook and Dev Alpha device. They are impressed with their results, and had this to say to existing android devs "I would recommend that all Android developers try it because it is so straightforward and has already proven to be successful for us."
